They’re filming some cars with Mercedes SUVs. I’ve seen these SUVs, M Class, used as camera cars A LOT. Even Top Gear used them.
Is there a reason for this?

The best or nothing.

Fairly fast and reliable SUV. Next to that maybe they’ve got a high roof loading capability too?

These movie cameras are typically mounted to the roof of a fast SUV, usually an ML55/ML63 or Porsche Cayenne, because they offer the toughness and versatility of an SUV but are still fast.

Probably a limited number of conversion specialists and so cheaper to do it on one platform rather than bespoking them to different rigs.
There are other units such a Ford F150s here in the U.K. Also along with other Ford’s like the Fiesta and the Focus.

Cayennes are also good Russian arm cars.

I need to find a rear ended FiST...

Just be careful what you type into Google, you certainly don’t want to be typing ‘fisted rear end’ or such, because that’s something very different indeed.

I literally laughed out loud.

Oh wow. I didn’t know that’s what those were called! Learn something new everyday!

Well, that’s what Clarkson called it on Top Gear (The Sweeneys car chase).
